![]() In fact ships like the Defiant were uncommon to the Federation because they were not aimed at war, it was the Borg who forced them into that position. The Federation was thought of as a balanced race (call it our own ego to be the center of the universe) aimed at exploration and science. Klingons and Romulans were an afterthought and thats why they don't have specialized ships. That's simply not true. Ursprünglich geschrieben von Khunter:The game was built around the mmo holy trinity, thats why there are 3 character classes and 3 classes of ships for the Federation. Someone who know's their role will always out do a hybrid. But dont expect to out dps someone in the queues that way. My main is an eng who has flown a mix of escorts and cruisers. You can try to be a hybrid character and it may work for you. With Science characters and their ships, they are support and dont do much damage but can pretty much shutdown the enemies dps or increase everyone else's. You will be able to tank pretty much anything with all the self healing and damage reduction skills. If you want to be the tank, roll an Engineer and fly a beam cruiser skilled for threat. Your class skills are better suited to them and together fill the role of DPS. That being said, if you're a Tactical captain get an escort. For a loooong time Klingons were strictly PVP for leveling, no PVE content at all. Klingons and Romulans were an afterthought and thats why they don't have specialized ships. The game was built around the mmo holy trinity, thats why there are 3 character classes and 3 classes of ships for the Federation. Therefor, I haven't really got much advice for them. I've tried a couple, but I don't really like full carriers(Atrox, Vo'quv, etc.) as much as half-carriers(HECs, Vesta, FDCs, etc.), personally. Cruisers are also great as defensive 'healers' due to Extend Shields, Aceton Beam(Rank 3 cuts a target's damage output by 75% for 30 seconds!) and most of the good science skills being available at ensign and lieutenant bridge slots. The better you can immobilize a target, the lower their defense value, the more damage you can do to them. Probably my favorite build is one that uses Eject Warp Plasma, Tractor Beams, Chroniton Mines and Attack Pattern Beta to severely snare and expose prey for the rest of the team. However, Cruisers - in general - can do some really awesome things in a support role. Too many people try, and fail, to build federation cruisers like 'battleships'. Sure, there are some broadsiding builds that can certainly do respectable damage, but it will never be on par with a quad DHC escort. Their cruisers cannot compete with escorts in damage. I dont want to left behind on fleets and queues only because i use cruisers instead of escorts. Sadly the escorts where buffed in defense so i dont see any benefit to use cruisers and thats my issue. I only want to know if i have the same chances in pve for damage output in cruiser like ships as the escort people. I have these ship types, atm i have T4 cruisers and T5 escort from the steam bundle, now i get a two T5 cruisers and the jem hadar carrier. ![]() The rest are only science skills or stealth and the only interesting for me was the shield and energy drain ability to improve that for weapons. ![]() The differences are between defense, trusters and powers for engines and aux but most people dont skill engines and aux even on escorts. Like any other game there usefull and useless skills and a few for personal preferences like batteries etc. My skills are fit for both ship types, i take a deeper look in guides and builds for skills and there are no really differences between the builds for tacticals. Sure they cant apply damage to enemies that fast as escorts but they are still nice in spike damage.įor cannons on cruiser like ships i would only use the multi mission vessels or like above the jem hadar dread carrier, the hardest point for cannnos is the accuracy for such big ships. I say the jem hadar dread carrier is a good damage horse similar to the romulan scimitar.
